Morton puts annexation vote on November ballot

I haven’t seen this reported anywhere else, but this is big news. From the Director’s report for the upcoming trustees’ meeting next week:

Rick Homchick and I attended the Morton City Council meeting on May 29 at the request of Council member Ellie Worsham. The City Council voted to put a library annexation vote on the November ballot. Among Council and community members there is interest in the library, concern about costs and commitment to letting the residents vote their opinions. At the end of the regular meeting agenda, the Council provided time for a question/answer session between TRL and community members.

Timberland staff and trustees have been discussing the possibility of a branch in Morton with the community up there for a few months. Annexation would be an necessary step to making a library up there happen.
