Yelm as a regional library

Just  because its going to come up again soon and because there are new 2009 number available, here is an update of the old Yelm as a regional library chart. The assumption is that Yelm serves a disproportionate amount of people from outside its city boundaries.

In my mind, you can quickly figure this by comparing a city’s population with its libraries foot-traffic. The lower the city population compared to people coming in the door at the library, the more “regional” the library really is.

And, again, in this case, Yelm was pretty average.

Yelm ranks below nearby Tenino and also below Shelton, Elma and Winlock.

This isn’t to say that the library in Yelm isn’t incredibly important, it really is. But it isn’t really regional either.
