What’s great about Timberland Part 1 (celebrating National Library Week)

1. Timberland Regional Library is never going away.

That’s a pretty strong statement. But, in light of municipal governments cutting and even closing libraries nationwide (ht Mark Derricott), its important to note how Timberland is different from city or county sponsored libraries.

Timberland is a special district with a dedicated revenue source (split between timber and property taxes). So, during tough economic times, while the Timberland budget may shrink on its own, and hours, services and some buildings may close, the entire system will never be cut out-right.
