Last night the Timberland board voted unanimously to put the library director, Michael Crose, on paid administrative leave. The purpose behind the vote was to give the board time to consider aspects of his performance that have come up recently. You can watch the portion of the board meeting that covers the vote here.
I can’t speak for the rest of the board, but its my impression that it is our intention that this be a brief process. And, obviously, because this deals with personnel issues, I can’t speak any more specifically.

It is encouraging to see that the Board has begun taking action in light of the Director’s performance. It is a heavy responsibility that each person takes on as a Board member and I can understand the staff being appreciative of the Board’s taking their concerns seriously. Hopefully a resolution can be soon found to the Library’s benefit.
Thank you.
I am displeased over the director’s failure to recognize a civic duty in serving a diverse population of people at the libraries in Olympia, and in Lacey. I am mainly speaking of no staff presence when it come to people-of-color in serving the general public at those libraries. Not very long ago I personally did complain by submitting a suggestion.
Thanks Ronald for the comment, I replied a bit here: http://informedcommunity.wordpress.com/2012/03/26/trl-minority-employment-stats/
